New york city

There is not much to I can add to our cultures over-saturated commentary on New York City. I mean, to explain New York City, you'd have to come to terms with the fact that it is un-explainable. An exaggeration? Maybe.

New York is stimulating. New York is to Ohio what smartphones are to landlines. It is snappy, neon, and high turn-over.

To explain what is is unexplainable, I thought I could mention Frank Jackson's thought experiment Mary’s Room, in which a woman named Mary has lived all of her life without the color red in her environment. At the same time, she is taught everything there is to learn there is about the color informationally (wavelength, it's use in ancient art, it's place in flags). A day comes where she sees red for the first time and although she already knew every fact about red, she still learned something through sense.

This is a long-winded way of saying “you have to see it to believe it”.

And it’s spectacular.
